This group is documenting and developing effective educational and organizational change initiatives within unions to facilitate wider and more effective participation of members, non-members and marginalized groups in the new social and economic realities of Canadian society.
In June 2005 we held an event bringing together unionists, members of community-based organizations, and educators from three Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton).
CONFERENCE
We are planning a conference – “Communities & Labour: Building Unity and Justice through Diversity” – in Toronto during October 18-20 to bring together community, labour and academic participants to begin a broader discussion about how we do and can work together.
PUBLICATION
This group has produced an annotated bibliography (draft) on community unionism.
