  • The ‘Learning and Work' clusters in the Adult Education and Sociology and Equity Studies in Education departments at OISE/UT deal with all facets of analysis related to work, learning, vocational training, labour markets, political economy, organizing and economic democracy.
  • We take a strong equity perspective looking carefully at research and activism related to class, race, gender and disability issues. Studies in the area of Education and Work includes a set of focused courses dealing with research and practice, and access to fellow students, leading international scholars and practitioners.
  • Associated with the specialization is one of the leading international centres for research in the field - the Centre for the Study of Education and Work (CSEW) . The CSEW is led by a coalition of community and labour representatives as well as an inter-disciplinary group of leading national and international researchers carrying out cutting-edge initiatives that support students in research interests of their own as well as invites them to join with others.
  • Students can obtain a Masters of Education (M.Ed.), a Master of Arts (MA), a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the area while studying on either full-time or part-time bases. Funding for MA and PhD programs is available.

CSEW is co-sponsored by the departments of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education (SESE) and Adult Education and Counselling Psychology (AECP).
