Bio

Jorge Garcia-Orgales is a researcher with the United Steelworkers, Canadian Office (USW). He was born in Argentina, left the country for exile in Europe in 1978 and made Canada his home in 1982. He has worked for different unions in Canada and abroad in areas of research and education. In 1994, he received the “New Pioneers Award in Education and Training.”
Jorge has researched technological and management changes in the telecommunications, electronic, printing and food processing industries. The results are publications:
• Food for Thought – United Food and Commercial Workers and Canadian Grocery Producers Council;

• Strengthening our Unions – Graphic Communications International Union and Communications Energy and Paperworkers Union;

• Transition and Difference – Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union;

• Total Quality Unionism – International Chemical and Energy Federation.
Among the union courses Jorge has developed are: “Facing ISO”, “Facing Training”, and “Union Judo”, as well as training courses in computer literacy and communications.
